On the morning of October 23, 2011, the sophomores of the College of Business Administration were at the school lobby exactly on the appointed call time of 7:00 a.m. beaming with great excitement as they boarded two coasters . And why not? Having been invited to attend the Go Negosyo! Young Entrepreneurs Summit 2011 at the World Trade Center, they are now enroute to the event site.
They arrived at the venue at 8:30 a.m.. Their spirits were further aerated by the presence of students from prestigious schools like Philippines Women’s University, San Beda College, De La Salle College, and colleges and universities. In spite of having to endure almost three hours of waiting under the mid-morning heat and the discomforts of being in a very long line, at about 11:00 a.m., they managed to get inside the event center by 11:00 a.m. The number of people who attended the event was quite overwhelming.
The event gathered a group of well-informed, experienced and highly skilled people about a particular industry, and who are willing to impart these knowledge for free. Through the sharing, many new insights and skills were presented while strengthening some basic ground works on business matters. For one, it was made clear that entering into any kind of business involves a lot of planning and research. The program also offered exclusive packages that can educate business starters and help business owners grow, upgrade or expand their businesses.
In the event site, one can almost anything.related to business concerns. The usual franchising booths were there. Some booths, on however, offered a variety of browbeating and daunting products which fortified the fact that Pinoys are entruly endowed with creative minds in their ways of thinking and manner of how to earn profit. One of the entertaining part of the seminars was when brothers Phil and James Younghusband, of the famed Philippine Azkals, went on stage to charm the audience and give advices.
There were a variety of discussion topics presented. The SFAC students had a chance to listen to the following:
- Photography by Nice Print, Folded and Hung by Ronald Pineda. Nice Print emphasized the importance of “PASSION” in terms of dealing with one’s work and .laziness, as a lack of dedication to work, a weakness.
- How to Be a Good Entrepreneur by Michael Angelo Lobrin. Michael Angelo Lobrin gave examples on how to become successful, notably, the sharing of one’s blessings with others. He also gave a few insights on marketing strategies like focusing in what you are doing and “ put(ting) love in everything you do and (so that) your work will be great and marvelous.”
- The Blind Enterpreneur by Roselle Ambubuyog, Ms. Ambubuyog in spite of her disability, managed to graduate with honors. Her secret was that she acted like any normal student during her school days. Fascinating and inspiring she impressed on all that disability can’t stop anyone from going where he/she wants go unless he/she allows this disability to get in the way.
The SFAC students left the event center at exactly 6:00 pm, carrying with them some llfelong learning experiences that will accompany them through their future working life journeys toward success.
